Body idioms and inversions


  • Idioms with parts of the body:


-(have) egg on your face: you've said or done something wrong, and it's made you feel embarrassed or stupid.

-(your) hands are tied: you're prevented from doing something that you'd normally have the power or the authority to do.

-(your) hand goes out to (someone): you feel great sympathy for someone.

-a bad hair day: everything seems to be going wrong for you.

-a kick in the teeth: something bad happens to you or you feel that you've been treated poorly.
